Oaken Holt celebrates National Care Home Open Day

Oaken Holt residents and team celebrated National Care Home Open Day this year on Thursday 15th June when they combined this event with the Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day at their home in Farmoor, Oxfordshire.

On the day, our residents and team were joined by relatives and members of the local community in the afternoon. Our kitchen baked some delicious cupcakes which our residents and team helped decorate for the event.

Home manager Sherrie Hume said;
“The team at Oaken Holt are very proud of our home and proud of our links with the community.

“As part of National Care Home Open Day and to help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society we were very pleased to welcome people to spend some time with us, enjoy coffee and our homemade cupcakes, meet our residents and team and discover what our home is all about.”

That was not all we did on the day. As an additional attraction, John, one of the residents from Wytham House, our sister home on the Oaken Holt Estate, came down to play the piano for us. We all sat round in our café and sang along to many popular songs from days gone by.

Much to our delight not only did we have a great social afternoon but we successfully raised over £50.00 with donations from everyone involved. We would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed their time and donated to help raise money for this great cause.

Located in the peaceful village of Farmoor, Oaken Holt care home in Oxford offers the perfect blend of tranquillity and accessibility, providing residential and nursing care of the very highest standard for up to 55 elderly residents. Wytham House is our newly-built home, standing independently within the Oaken Holt estate and together with Oaken Holt is surrounded by gardens and parkland extending to 23 acres.
