Nutrition and Hydration Week at Oaken Holt

Oaken Holt care home in Farmoor, Oxfordshire were proud to support Nutrition and Hydration Week which started on Monday 13th March. The initiative aimed to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally.

As part of this week, Oaken Holt had five daily themes organised by our Home Manager and Activities Coordinators to highlight the importance of nutrition and hydration for our residents and team;

  • Monday – staff big breakfast to highlight the importance of nutrition;
  • Tuesday – snack making;
  • Wednesday – afternoon tea party;
  • Thursday – thirsty Thursday, smoothie making;
  • Friday: Fishy Friday – with fish and chips served in newspaper.

One of our residents commented that our Friday theme was just “like the old days.”

At Oaken Holt, ensuring every resident receives the best possible care is our top priority and we understand the importance of good nutrition and hydration and recognise they are fundamental human needs. When people are ill, old or vulnerable, nutrition becomes even more important to us in managing their care and to ensure that they have the best chance of recovery and rehabilitation.

Set within 23 acres of beautiful gardens and parklands in the heart of rural Oxfordshire, Oaken Holt is a magnificent country estate offering residential and nursing care of the very highest standard.
