‘Nicky’ Richards hits 100 at Dormy House

Residents and staff at Dormy House were celebrating recently as popular resident Alice (Nicky) Richards reached her 100th Birthday.

The day itself was marked by a party at the grand Sunningdale home for Nicky’s family, fellow residents and staff as she showed off her much-anticipated telegram from the Queen. Nicky’s family organised a magician for the event and she was treated to no less than three cakes!

Nicky was born in Liverpool on as one of eight children and lived there until her mother sadly passed away. When she left school, Nicky joined the land army in Norfolk, from where she went into domestic service.

Whilst living and working in London, Nicky met her husband, who worked for Shell. They went on to move back to Cheshire and have three children and one grandchild, Tamara. She worked as a volunteer for the meals on wheels service WRVS and away from work, enjoyed helping out at the Girl Guides and Brownies. Nicky then moved to Sunningdale, where she lived for a number of years before moving to Dormy House.

Located in one of the most sought after residential areas in Sunningdale, adjacent to the world renowned Golf Course and with views over the Ladies’ Course, Dormy House offers residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 88 elderly ladies and gentlemen.
