Musical Memories at Ivy Court

Musical Memories visited the residents at Ivy court in Norwich this week.

The group entertained the residents, care team and some family members in one of the lounges at Ivy Court. As Musical Memories were getting ready the residents, their families and the care team filed into the living room filling up all the available space as they excitedly awaited the performance. There was a lot of guessing as to what they would be doing as they were wearing some rather extravagant fancy dress, it was a cause for much conversation before it had even started.

But, as it was the lead up to Christmas the group sung various songs, including Christmas songs, that were from the 1940’s. Not at all like their costumes! The residents listened to renditions of the traditional ‘White Christmas and ‘The Christmas Song’, and more from the 40’s such as ‘Chattanaga Choo Choo’  and ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’. They thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing with the music from their younger days, it”s amazing how you never forget the words to your favourite songs, and judging from the response I would say Musical Memories hit the nail on the head.

To accompany the singing there was a pirate who told terrible jokes! He really lightened the mood and had everyone laughing along with him.

Everyone had a great time, and there was even an encore for more. Thank you for the great start to our Christmas celebrations!
