MP meets staff and residents at Magna Care Centre

MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole Michael Tomlinson spent time meeting staff, residents and relatives at the Magna Care Centre in Wimborne, Dorset.

Mr Tomlinson visited the centre for a cream tea, a tour and to answer some of the residents’ questions on subjects as diverse as the local bus service, access to public toilets and how will Brexit affect employees, including those working in the care industry.

A welcoming committee of residents met the guests at the door and showed them around the home, finishing at the main lounge for questions and a delicious cream tea prepared by the chef at Magna Care Centre.

Home manager Teresa Freeman said;
“Residents were delighted to meet and have chance to chat to their local MP. Our local councillor for Merley and Bearwood Jane Newell also attended so residents had two opportunities to have their questions answered.”

Caring Homes Group was established in 1994 by registered nurse Helena Jeffery and her son Paul. Since then the company has grown to become one of the most highly respected independent care and support providers in the UK and remains family run.

The Magna care home in Wimborne is a stunning care centre providing residential and specialist nursing care for up to 63 elderly residents. The home has been praised in its latest CQC inspection report and was rated as providing a ‘Good’ care service with a coveted ‘Outstanding’ rating for being well-led.

The team at the Magna Care Centre are also celebrating winning the Best Residential Team of the Year award at the Caring Homes Group Recognition Awards. The awards were presented at a glittering celebration hosted at the Grove Hotel in Watford and presented by musician and singer Ronan Keating.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
