Moorlands enjoy Cream Tea at All Saints Church in Lightwater

At Moorlands Nursing Home in Lightwater, Surrey, a handful of our residents visited our local Church, Saints Church, Lightwater for their annual summer service and cream tea event.

We enjoyed a brief service with some well-known hymns that were sung with gusto – followed by a beautiful spread of tea, sandwiches and homemade cakes in the church hall.

It was a lovely afternoon for leisurely chatting with the Vicar and some of his congregation, along with debating our favourite hymns and remembering those days of school assemblies when hymn singing was a given.

A husband of one our residents also joined us as well on our trip and it was lovely that he could attend an outing with his wife, enjoy the afternoon with her and get a trip out in the Moorlands bus!

Tracy Jepson, Home Manager said:

“We actively encourage our residents families and friends to not only visit us and join in on events at our home but to participate in our many activities and trips out, as they would have done together in the past.”

“Also, I feel like these events help bring our residents and the community together and we hope to attend many more in the future.”

We have a special relationship with All Saints Church and we are always delighted to accept their invitations to their events.

All Saints Church is our local parish church and they send a group of volunteers to visit us on a regular basis for a ‘Songs of Praise’ afternoon which the residents eagerly look forward as they enjoy the chance to get together and sing.

They have proved to be a real support to us at Moorlands Nursing Home when the need arises for spiritual comfort and encouragement and are always welcome visitors to our home.

At Moorlands Nursing Home we provide residential and nursing care for up to 40 elderly residents in a bright and homely environment.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
