Mini Ponies visit Belmont House

Kingswood Shetland Mini Ponies paid a visit to Belmont House Nursing Home in Sutton. The Animal Assisted Therapy (also known as AAT) came in with the trained mini ponies much to the delight of the residents. Animals are used to help improve an individuals mental, physical, social and emotional functioning, depending on the needs of the person.

Our residents had a fabulous day, some who have never been close to a pony or even seen one. They loved brushing them, stroking them and just watching how the amazing mini ponies interacted with people. The ponies softly put their heads on a residents lap and waited to be petted.

We hope to see them again in February.

At Belmont House we provide specialist residential, nursing and dementia care in a purpose built environment. We continuously improve the lives of our residents through offering wide ranging services, activities and events, both in and outside of the home involving members of our local community as often as possible.
