Mill House proud to be shortlisted for eleven awards

The team and residents at Mill House Care Home have been celebrating after being shortlisted as finalists in eleven categories at the South West Great British Care Awards 2022, breaking the record for the most nominations for Caring Homes at one event.

The awards will be held on Saturday 26th November at the Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol. The awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and recognise individual excellence across the care sector.

Home manager Gary Kent praised his team saying “I am immensely proud of the team at Mill House. They have shown how important it is to care with your heart while developing knowledge and skills that enhance the lives of those of who we care for. Winning these prestigious awards would be great recognition of their dedication and hard work.”

The team will be hosting a champagne and canape party with the residents before the awards to celebrate together and wish them good luck.

Congratulations to the finalists:

Social Care Nurse - Theo Asuama Opoku - Everything Theo does is dignity lead with the care homes residents included in every aspect of their care. Theo empowers residents to be independent, make decisions and to live varied, interesting and fulfilled lives.

Social Care Nurse - Dianna Daclan-Webb - Dianne brings a hands-on approach while leading the team; she ensures Kindness, empathy and has the respect of the team and a wonderful relationship with residents and their families.

Care innovator - Paul Dixon - The community engagement and innovative approach by Paul and the team was highlighted by CQC, including their free day care campaign. Their latest project will be offering a programme to schools to educate students with an understanding of dementia.

Ancillary Worker - Robyn Underwood - With over 15 years’ service at Mill House, Robyn exudes kindness and compassion and can be the life and soul of the home or a shoulder to cry on depending on what a resident or colleague needs.

Care Assessor - Lorraine Averre - A dedicated professional with exemplary attention to detail Lorraine has trained and mentored others to follow her lead and understand the importance of communication and a joined-up approach to care.

Dignity in Care - Luke Webb – Chef Luke demonstrates his outstanding dignity lead approach to his work, going above and beyond every day to ensure dignity radiates through the care home.

Care Home Activity Organiser - Louise Voss, Emma Ingles and Paul Dixon - Highlighted as exemplary by CQC, the team go above and beyond to provide a person centred and varied programme of activities for their residents.

Recruitment, Retention and Recognition - Robyn Underwood and Paul Dixon - The team at Mill house pride themselves on a positive working environment, promoting diversity and inclusion, recognising excellence and development which has resulted in strong retention of a highly motivated and skilled team.

Palliative Carer - Lorraine Averre – with over 30 years’ experience, dignity is at the forefront of every decision Lorraine makes not only to the residents but their families and her colleagues.

Workforce Development - Paul Dixon - Paul has developed kitchen assistants to head chefs, part time cleaning staff to head housekeepers and has put in place outstanding training and mentoring to develop the careers and experience of those he oversees

Chef of the Year - Luke Webb - As the youngest head chef in the Caring Homes group, Luke brings a cohesive joined up approach to both front of house hospitality and outstanding nutrition and hydration. His innovative menus and passion for food delight the residents daily.
