Memory Lane at Kippington

Dementia residents at Kippington Nursing Home in Sevenoaks have been enjoying special sessions that are run to help them engage with past memories.

Many suffering with dementia may feel disoriented, confused, and/or excluded from some Social Group activities due to their condition. Activity Organiser Linda Crees at Kippington has organised a dementia-specific group known as ‘Memory Lane’ to help conquer this issue, and ensure that those with dementia feel include and happy.

The ‘Memory Lane’ group takes place in the first floor lounge, which tends to be quiet and is therefore great for those that attend the group. The group concentrates on reminiscence based (audio-visual) and simple age-appropriate activities, such as the cake decorating, that bring back memories that they are able to share with each other.

We all know that keeping active is important, Edwin and his team are there to ensure that residents experience an environment that is both stimulating and socially active from musical entertainment to sensory stimulation, animal visits, exercises, pampering, memory games, art and crafts, food based activities and more.

We look forward to future sessions, and learning more about each other.

Kippington provides residential and nursing care in a beautiful converted Victorian building for up to 51 elderly people.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
