Mayor visits Kingsclear for festivities

There were ukuleles, handbells and recorders at Kingsclear nursing home in Camberley when the local U3A group came along to entertain visitors at the Christmas open day.

The home was beautifully decorated for the season and all family and friends were invited to join in the event and share some food and drinks as well as music to really get you into the spirit of Christmas.

Mayor of Surrey Heath Dan Adams was guest of honour and took time to speak to each resident. He also tried his hand at playing the ukulele.

” I’ve had a wonderful time here and loved meeting you all”, he said, “You have a lovely home and lots of lovely people here looking after you all.”

Wellbeing Coordinator Lauren Devitt who helped to organise the event said; “This event was very successful for Kingsclear as so many people saw our wonderfully decorated home. They also saw the enjoyment on our residents’ faces and the shining atmosphere that the team at Kingsclear provided to make the day extra special for our residents, relatives, friends and visitors.”

Lauren added that The U3A group have been volunteering at Kingsclear for a few months now and each time they have been a big hit with the residents.

Residents, family and friends thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas concert day and their comments included:

“I’ve had such a great morning sitting with my mum and seeing her smile and clapping along, haven’t seen that for a long time.”

“Wonderful food and drink provided for us which was lovely. It was great to see everyone getting involved and singing along to the songs.”
