Mayor of Poole celebrates Dot’s 100th Birthday at Magna Care Centre

A Magna Care Centre resident, Dorothy ‘Dot’ recently celebrated the grand age of 100 on Monday the 9th January, at our home in Wimborne, Dorset.

Dot who is a new resident at our home, received the official letter of congratulation and special birthday card from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II which was a fabulous start to her day and an indication of this special occasion.

The celebrations continued when Dot was the proud guest of honour at her birthday tea party where she was joined by members of her family, as well as some close friends in the Magnolia Restaurant. Dot was absolutely delighted when the Mayor of Poole, Councillor Xena Dion, resplendent in her official chain off office, also arrived to join her on this special occasion.

During the birthday tea, Dot was presented with a homemade 100th Birthday cake and had a lovely day surrounded by family and friends. She also loved meeting the Mayor and having a chat with her.

Teresa Freeman, Home Manager said:

“We were delighted to be hosting Dot’s 100th birthday at our home. We always make birthdays and memorable occasions special for our residents and their families. We were also delighted that the Mayor was able to attend to help make this a day to remember for Dot.”

The next day Dot had a beaming smile and was chatting all about her big day and how wonderful it was for her. She was surrounded by all the flower bouquets and cards she received and has memories of a very special and unique day in her life.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
