Marchglens Christmas Festivities

At Marchglen in Alloa we had a busy December!

The Christmas Fete was a huge success with a great variety of stalls participating in the event, with one being our own selling reindeer dust, Santa keys and sweetie cups the residents had made. We also had our grotto with Santa & Mrs Claus for the children to visit, a Tulliallan pipe band and the Forefront school performed for everyone.

Resident Helen had a stall selling handmade frames and some pictures she had coloured in, she finds this therapeutic, she donated all money raised to the MS Society.  Between her stall and a belly dancing fundraising night the next day, Helen raised over £500 for MS Society!

Marchglen’s Christmas fundraising all month generated over £800 for our residents funds. The belly Dancers who performed for us at the home also had a separate fundraising event in which they donated over £500 to our residents funds.

The residents have also been entertained by Craigbank primary school, class P7 visited the residents and sung Christmas carols for us all. The residents always enjoy a visit from the children and we also presented them with a selection box and reindeer dust each. The children also go round all our residents chatting, it is always nice to see everyone together. We look forward to welcoming them back soon.

Marchglen provides nursing care in a purpose built environment for up to 36 people in four small homes within the grounds. Each home provides different types of care and support including physical disabilities, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours in both young adults and elderly.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
