Marchglen hosts sugar-free celebration in support of Diabetes UK

Marchglen Care Home was bustling again this week, as it hosted a sugar-free celebration to raise awareness and funds in support of World Diabetes Day.

The staff, residents, friends and relatives of the Fishcross home thoroughly enjoyed a day full of dancing, and singing along to songs by Tom Jones, Elvis and the Village People, to name just a few.

A total of nearly £40 was raised, which will be donated to Diabetes UK as part of the Caring Homes ‘Charitable Partnership’. The 2013/14 initiative sees each of the 56 care homes across the group working together to raise thousands of pounds for their two chosen charities, Parkinson’s UK and Diabetes UK.

Marchglen Care Home is an innovative collection of four houses providing a range of specialist care and forming a unique community on the outskirts of Fishcross. The state of the art facility supports up to 36 people including those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and acquired brain injuries.
