March Fun for Gildawood Court Residents

At Gildawood Court care home in Nuneaton, we aim to provide stimulating and meaningful activities for our residents and March was no exception. Our residents enjoyed lots of events and activities and here’s just a few listed below:

Tuesday 7th March 2017 – Dementia Awareness Coffee Morning
We had a fantastic response to our Dementia Awareness coffee morning. The event gave families the opportunity to chat about their experiences of having a family member with dementia and to talk about how they have coped emotionally.

We had positive feedback from the event and we were glad to give the families a chance to express themselves, enjoy company with their relatives and talk over tea and cake in a relaxed environment.

Tuesday 16th March – Arts and Crafts
Residents and staff had lots of fun making items with modelling dough.  We talked about the different shapes and colours. The residents found the experience really engaging and we created flowers and a fruit basket using the modelling dough. The experience helped boost the hand-eye coordination of the residents and they enjoyed feeling the different textures.

18th to 19th March – Oomph Exercise Sessions
Oomph is an important part of exercise at Gildawood and this weekend was a particularly active one! Residents have taken part using pom-poms, moving around to music and exercising their legs and arms. Some of our residents who are not mobile still managed to join in with gentle movements and they enjoyed the upbeat music and teddy bear mascots.

At Gildawood Court, we offer a full range of dementia care support including trial stays, short stay and convalescent care as well as long-term care.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
