Magna Care Centre say Thank You to Caring Canines

Residents at the Magna Care Centre in Wimbourne, Dorset enjoy regular monthly visits from Caring Canines as part of our varied activity schedule.

Visits from Caring Canines are eagerly looked forward to by our residents and team and they love meeting these visitors. They really enjoy seeing and petting the dogs and our four legged friends also appear to love all the attention they get too, judging by their wagging tails when they walk around the home and greet everyone.

Currently we welcome lady owner Helen who is so friendly and chatty that she has now become a real friend too of our home. It’s not just about the dogs!

To say thank you, we presented Julie from Caring Canines with a small contribution and a cheque for £30.00 for the great work they do within the local community.

Teresa Freeman, Home Manager said

“We really enjoy our visits from Caring Canines and we were all very proud to show our appreciation for their work. We look forward to many more visits from them as we can really see the joy and difference these visits make to our residents lives.”

At the Magna Care Centre, we know the therapeutic effects of pets visiting care homes and it is visibly evident here and considered an essential part of our activity schedule. It can really help to break down barriers and to enhance the lives of our residents who miss canine companionship as well as those who may never have had a pet. Also, it can encourage exercise, as well as be very soothing as it can promote calmness and relaxation, thus bringing a sense of well-being and better health to our residents.”

The pet visits can also increase the quantity and the quality of social interactions amongst our residents and team members, as they engage in more frequent conversations as they provide a common ground. They also increase the opportunity to build new social bonds with each other, especially with new residents and helps them settle into their new home.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
