Llama Trip for Claydon House Residents

Residents and staff from Claydon House in Lewes recently enjoyed a trip to the Llama Park in the Ashdown Forest to meet the reindeer and to have a festive lunch. Everyone was very excited about this long anticipated trip and despite the cold weather, we were all really looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, we then received a phone call to say that our minibus had some mechanical issues and that the trip was no longer possible. Everyone was deeply disappointed and we were resigned to postponing this trip to another day.

However, much to our delight our quick thinking Home Manager Karen Grainger saved the day. Rather than disappoint our residents, she immediately got on the phone, rang the Big Lemon Bus Company, a local social enterprise based in Brighton,  who came to our rescue. We were delighted when they found us not only a bus at very short notice but also a driver, the charming and very helpful Richard.

Thanks to Karen’s speedy response and the bus company’s helpfulness we were soon on our way, arriving at the park only 10 minutes late. Bobby and his staff gave us a very warm welcome and we had an amazing time listening to Bobby’s tales, feeding the llamas, seeing the reindeer and eating the most delicious meal, while taking in the stunning views across the Ashdown Forest.

Everyone had a fabulous time; it was great being out in the fresh air and seeing all the animals. Our residents agreed that as it was such a great day, there is only thing for it – we will have to go back.

On behalf of Claydon House Residents and our team, we just wanted to say a huge ‘Thank you’ to the Big Lemon Bus Company for making this day possible, we literally could not have done it without you!
