Life’s a Ball at Galsworthy House

Residents, families and friends of Galsworthy House were joined by members of the local community when we opened our doors and welcomed everyone to enjoy our Autumn Victorian Ball on Saturday 16th September, an evening dedicated to past elegance at our home in Kingston-upon-Thames.

Everyone came together to help celebrate the romance and glamour of the height of the Victorian era with dance, merriment and to meet friends both old and new.

There was a light buffet; delicious finger food with home-made delicate cakes, sweet treats, fabulous entertainment and the swish of silk and lace with our guests suitably dressed to impress in their suits and gowns.

Sue, our Events Coordinator arrived resplendent in a blue gown complete with hoops giving a real sense of drama and cut quite an impressive figure. it was lovely to see everyone in their finery, from long gowns to even a kilt.

It was also a chance to say thank you to our residents, their relatives and friends for their support and to help celebrate our fantastic refurbishment which has recently taken place. With our elegant and beautifully appointed, newly refurbished day rooms which retain a wealth of period features, and the beautiful marquee located in our front garden allowing guests to flow between the house, this all contributed to the distinctive atmosphere in our home.

Everyone who attended commented on what a fabulous event it was with quotes such as:

‘Can we please make this an annual event?’

‘Would be lovely to have a ‘Winter Wonderland’ ball

‘We thought the Galsworthy Ball was marvellous fun, thank you. It was lovely watching everyone enjoying themselves so much. A lot of hard work went into that of course, and we could see what a big effort all the staff put in to make it such a special afternoon, and of course not forgetting Sue O’s , and her team’s , fantastic contributions’

‘What a joy to see the interactions between people’

‘Beautiful dancing and singing and the food looked and tasted amazing’

Galsworthy House would like to say a big thank you to our team and residents who helped make this such as great occasion and for all the help and support received from our guests.
