Ladies Day, Cranmer Court style!

To celebrate Ladies Day at the famous Royal Ascot summer event, fashion and cash were the order of the day for the residents of Cranmer Court near Warlingham in Surrey.

In keeping one of the most glamorous racing events on the calendar, everyone decorated hats to wear whilst watching the races. A sweepstake was held to pick horses and each resident had £3,000 of ‘fake’ money to place bets on a number of races. Bets placed ranged from a speculative £50 up to fanciful £1,000.

Joyce Batchelor was the big winner on the day as her horses romped home in both of her races. Joyce placed a hefty £1,500 on the final race, winning a bank-breaking £5,000!

Everyone enjoyed the traditional tipple of Pimms whilst prizes were awarded for the most glamorous hats. Cynthia White, pictured, donned one of the more outrageous creations of the day.
