Knowle Park visited by furry friends

On Friday 4th March 2016, residents at Knowle Park were visited by some furry friends in the form of two owls and a falcon. The birds were brought into the care home by a gentleman who explained lots of facts about birds of prey and then went into detail about the life of these particular birds.

“At Knowle Park we always welcome visitors and volunteers in to the home to speak to and interact with our residents” said Athena Stevens, Home Manager; “Our residents thoroughly enjoy chatting to people from all walks of life and learning things they perhaps didn’t know before. This was a particularly great visit as residents were able to hold and stroke the birds, which they really enjoyed.”

A range of activities at Knowle Park helps resident’s wellbeing and the majority or residents enjoy learning something new. The Activities Coordinator at the home ensures activities remain diverse and varied from week to week and the home always welcomes visitors too. The Alzheimer’s Society says that; “Mental health and wellbeing is as important as physical health and wellbeing,” which Knowle Park recognises and understands, ensure residents are kept as mentally and physically active as possible.

“We’re so glad our residents were able to hold and stroke these birds as many had never had the opportunity to do so before” said Athena Stevens, Home Manager; “We are really looking forward to our furry friends returning for another visit in the summer time.”
