Kippingtons oldest resident Edna celebrates her 103rd birthday

Kippingtons nursing home’s oldest resident Edna May Oubridge, recently celebrated her 103rd Birthday. Edna who has lived at the home in Sevenoaks for the past year, was born on the 16th of August 1915 in Ilford, Essex and when asked how it feels to be 103, she replied, “Not bad at all”. Edna believes the secret to living a long life is by having a positive outlook.

Edna enjoyed a private birthday lunch with her family, specially prepared by Kippingtons in-house Chef. This was then followed by a celebration hosted by the residents and care team at the home.

The Mayor of Sevenoaks, Mayor Roderick Hogarth was honoured to be invited as a guest, offering his congratulations to Edna, along with a bouquet of flowers and a birthday card.

Entertainment duo ‘Unique’ provided a joyful and lively atmosphere by performing some of the “birthday girl’s” favourite songs.

Edna, who was surrounded by family members, including her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, enjoyed celebrating her landmark birthday and reminiscing with fellow residents, on the last ten decades aided wonderfully by a collection of amazing photos displayed on a board.

Asked how Edna enjoys life at Kippingtons, Edwin Cabagui, the Home Manager said “I see Edna everyday actively engaged in activities with other residents, she really enjoys good company. Her favourite board game is Bagatelle, she always wins on target games! Edna loves music and I can safely say that Edna is a lucky person, recently she just won eight raffles prizes during our Summer Fete Draw. It’s a privilege having Edna as one of our residents here at Kippingtons.”

Towards the end of her special day, Edna reflected on the occasion, sharing that her day was “Busy and tiring but it’s worth it, family and new friends celebrated with me, nothing else I could ask for.”
