John Howell MP meets staff and residents at Abbeycrest

Henley MP John Howell attended the official opening of Abbeycrest Care Home. As well as being given a tour of the care facilities by members of staff, Mr Howell took the time to speak to residents about their everyday lives and activities.

The purpose-built home, located in the quiet village of Sonning Common, provides residential and nursing care for up to 70 elderly ladies and gentlemen living with dementia. Abbeycrest’s dementia care provision has been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s standards, which are widely acknowledged as providing the best living environment for people living with dementia.

During his visit Mr Howell had the opportunity to chat with the Home Manager and staff, who took him through the range of therapeutic activities offered by Abbeycrest.

Babi Dixon, Abbeycrest Manager said:

“Everyone at Abbeycrest was very proud to welcome our MP to the home, and show him our fantastic new care facilities. I want to say a big thank you to Mr Howell on behalf of residents and staff for making this such a special day.

It was lovely for us all to have the chance to meet Mr Howell and tell him about the events we run with the local community; he was very interested in the range of activities that we offer our residents at Abbeycrest.

Caring Homes is passionate about ensuring the highest standards of specialist care and our new facilities have enabled us to deliver the level of care we pride ourselves on.”

Abbeycrest is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group. Mother and son team Helena and Paul Jeffery founded Caring Homes in 1994 and the Group has grown to become a leading independent care provider in the UK.
