Jam packed July Activities for Garth House Residents

Following our very busy month of June, we had another jam packed month in July at Garth House in Dorking Surrey.

On 1st July we celebrated international Joke day with the best told joke winning a prize. We also had Katie come in to conduct a reminiscence session on the theme “Three Royal Princesses” using the projector with picture, music and film clips.

On 7th July we had an afternoon party with the great singer and guitarist, Charlie. Our residents had a great time; the sing-a-long with Charlie creating a great atmosphere in particular.

On 14th July, we held a Wine & Cheese tasting session where our residents tried many different sort of cheeses and had a chance to vote for their favourite.

On 12th July we held our Residents Meeting where each resident had a chance to raise any concerns or discuss any problems they might have. Information about the home and events are also provided. It’s a great forum for everyone to get together and discuss life at their home.

On 16th July we celebrated International Ice Cream day by treating our residents to many different flavours of ice cream during afternoon tea.

On 21st July we had visit from Caroline and she brought her donkey & guinea pig to show our residents, which proved a very therapeutic especially for those who are bed bound.

Our residents also enjoyed many other regular activities such as on Tuesdays with chair exercises with Donna. Hairdresser Sylvia visits on Mondays with regular trips out as well. Regular Oomph sessions to keep us all stimulated enjoy light exercise and have fun.

On Wednesdays, P.A.T dog Bobby arrives with Kim for some animal therapy. We have Trolley Shops visit on Thursday held by Kim and on Friday mornings, Physiotherapist with Myra (one- to-one, as well as group) and many other cognitive, sensory activities.

We also take full advantage of the Summer sunshine and enjoy the beautiful gardens.

As you can see, we like to keep busy here at Garth House and our residents benefit from a broad and thoroughly enjoyable range of activities.
