Ivy Court take a steam boat around the broads

The residents from Ivy Court nursing home in Norwich took a trip to Horning near Wroxham this week for a trip around the broads on ‘The Southern Comfort’ which is a large double decker paddle steamer.

We were met there by family members who joined us for the afternoon trip on the boat. The steamer took us from the beautiful village of Horning, along the River Bure through the village and out to Ranworth Broad and back, passing lovely old thatched houses, windmills and Norfolk reed beds.

Throughout the trip there was an excellent commentary and continual pointing out of all the water birds around. The residents enjoyed spotting the wildlife and birds on the route and also enjoyed a drink at the bar on the steamer!

It was a lovely day out, it gave us a chance to build relationships with some new residents and families, and also new memories to add to our boards and discussions.
