Huntercombe Hall carer Sharon scoops top award

Huntercombe Hall care worker Sharon Hunt has been named as Carer of the Year at the Caring Homes Group Recognition Awards.

With more than 5,500 employees across the group Sharon beat off stiff competition to be recognised for her commitment and dedication in her role as senior carer.

The awards were presented at a glittering ceremony hosted at the Grove Hotel in Watford and presented by musician and singer Ronan Keating.

At Huntercombe Hall care home in Henley-upon-Thames residential, nursing and dementia care is provided for up to 42 elderly residents.

Sharon Hunt has shown full commitment to personal training, having completed all three levels of Caring Homes’ in-house dementia training – Living in My World. She is also a Dignity Champion for Huntercombe Hall and has successfully completed medical competency training.

Following a review of over 3,000 nominations received from colleagues and people supported for the awards, Sharon was shortlisted for Carer of the Year 2017.

The judges shared the views of one nomination which stated; “Sharon’s commitment to the residents in her care is outstanding. She supports those living with dementia to undertake a fulfilled life and is able to deal with those who present with behaviours that challenge staff in an effective and compassionate manner.”

Attended by over 340 guests the evening was a great occasion, with colleagues and business partners coming together to celebrate the very best care and support provided by outstanding people.
