Hillview get ready for Clackmannanshire in Bloom

Although the Scottish spring weather hasn’t been all that kind to us, it’s not stopped the residents and care team at Hillview in Sauchie from having a full and fun filled month.

This month the residents at Hillview have been preparing the gardens, starting with digging the allotment with residents, staff and family members digging, weeding and planting vegetables.

The residents have also been deciding what to grow in their individual house gardens, with most opting for flowers. So we had a trip to the local garden centre to help with ideas and what we could grow or even how we could present them.

We can’t wait to show off our gardens at Clackmannanshire in Bloom!

Aside from creating a beautiful place to spend time and enjoy the great outdoors, gardening has several mental and physical benefits to people with dementia. As well as the great exercise for the mind and body, it helps boost energy levels and promotes a good nights sleep.

Hillview Court provides specialist nursing and dementia care in a purpose built environment for up to 48 elderly people.
