Hillview residents climb aboard for canal cruise

Website latest news

With spring having sprung, some of the residents of Hillview took the chance to get out and about on the Scottish canals this month.

With the sun shining and the kettle boiling, there was an air of anticipation as the group headed off on one of the ‘Seagull Trust’ barges. The leisurely pace of the boat ensured that there was plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and feed the ducks, before tucking into lunch aboard, making for a lovely relaxing trip.

Founded in 1978, the Seagull Trust Cruises charity offers free cruises on Scotland’s canals for people with special needs. From small beginnings, Seagull Trust Cruises now hosts over 20,000 passengers a year on more than 2,000 cruises.

Situated on the edge of the village of Sauchie in Clackmannanshire and enjoying wonderful views over open countryside, Hillview Court provides specialist residential and nursing care for individuals with dementia, learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries (Including alcohol related illnesses) and older people for up to 48 people across seven units.
