Heffle Court up for Top National Activities Award

Heffle Court, a specialist home for people living with dementia, has been shortlisted as a national finalist for the NAPA ‘Away Challenge’. NAPA (National Association for Providers of Activities for Older People) is a registered charity with a keen and active interest in promoting high quality activity provision for older people. The challenge itself was intended to showcase those homes that offered their residents plenty of opportunities to get out and about and involved in the local community during the week of 16th – 23rd June. One such activity involved resident John Foster revisiting his old profession and spending a memorable evening as guest of honour at Mayfield Fire Station (pictured)

Heffle Court Manager, Debby Potter told us:
‘Being shortlisted for this award is a fantastic achievement. Our activities team, led by Sam Keylock, work tirelessly to ensure our residents have access to a wide range of person-centred activities and they have been instrumental in ensuring that Heffle Court remains at the heart of the local community.’

The news comes as the Caring Homes group announces the launch of its acclaimed ‘Living’ programme. The new initiative is a structured activities programme based around a ‘5 a day’ approach of providing activities that always meet either social, emotional, cognitive, sensory or physical needs as part of the holistic programme of care delivered at the home.

Representatives from Heffle Court will be attending the gala event and special afternoon tea in London on Wednesday 25th September.

Located at the heart of Heathfield, Heffle Court is a care home providing specialist dementia care for up to 39 elderly people. The home is run by the family-owned Caring homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery.
