Heffle Court has its own ‘Dementia Friends’

Two staff members at Heffle Court have pledged to raise further awareness of dementia in their local community following the successful completion of a ‘Dementia Friends’ training course.

In their current roles, Sam Keylock (pictured) and Cathy Slater work closely with people living with dementia every day at Heffle Court. One of the difficulties they have witnessed is people losing friends following diagnosis, although the support of these friends can be vital in supporting people living with dementia.

Following the course, Sam and Cathy are keen to spread the word in the local community and they are already planning to host information sessions that will help other people to gain a better understanding of dementia.

Dementia Friends is a national organisation who are aiming to create one million ‘Dementia Friends’ who will be able to help people with dementia to live well for longer.

Located at the heart of Heathfield, Heffle Court providies specialist dementia care for up to 32 elderly people.
