Harvest Celebrations at Coxhill

We celebrated Harvest here at Coxhill Manor in September in style this year!

Activity coordinator Julia organised the making of the most beautiful harvest wheatsheaf (made from bread) during her weekly ‘cooking activity’ session. The residents all helped make the stalks of corn that it was decorated with and resident Karen enjoyed making the traditional harvest mouse that went on it! It was a work of art and all who were involved were very proud – A fantastic team effort.

Meanwhile, Head of Activities Sandra Stock made harvest baskets with our residents, filled with delicious vegetables, which she picked up fresh from the market on her way to work. Everyone had lots of fun making the baskets and discussing the vegetables they liked and didn’t like, how they used to cook them and favourite recipes – in fact it turned into a good old reminiscence session! The baskets were displayed beautifully on a table decorated with flowers and greenery, in readiness for our Sunday Service.

Reverend Chris Bedford from our local Church (The Parish of St Lawrence Chobham) held the service in the conservatory at Coxhill Manor, with over twenty of our residents attending. A colourful and beautiful service with some lovely hymns allowed us to give thanks for all we have.

Chris holds a communion service here at Coxhill every month. It is a very welcomed and appreciated service by our residents. Faith is a very important part of life for some of our residents and it is important they have the opportunity to come together for worship. Particularly so for those who can no longer go to a service at Church. Chris ensures the services are of a traditional nature with which the residents are familiar. It’s interesting to observe residents not needing the service or hymn sheets… They know the words off by heart! Even some residents who are living with dementia and may have lost the meaning to words and have difficulty communicating, can sing the hymns with ease.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
