Green fingers at Home of Compassion

Residents at Home of Compassion recently enjoyed the beautiful summer weather outside in the courtyard garden by planting flowers in the raised beds. Several of the residents and members of staff got together to sow a selection of seeds and enjoy the sunshine.

“We involve our residents as much as possible in different areas of the home” explains Avril Jones, Home Manager: “Home of Compassion is our residents’ home so if they would like certain flowers in the raised beds for example, we will always do our best to accommodate whilst making sure they are involved in the process.

“Home of Compassion sits within beautifully landscaped gardens overlooking the river Thames. In the delightful summer weather we always encourage our residents to be outside and enjoy the sun. It’s wonderful when we can incorporate the two; an activity and being outside – gardening is a great example of this.”

Home of Compassion provides residential, dementia and nursing care for up to 79 elderly residents. The impressive Grade II* mansion has been restored and extended to create a prestigious and luxurious care home which sets new standards for care.

The home boasts many late 18th Century and early 19th Century interior features, with grand interiors and spacious rooms. The home has been upgraded and finished to the highest standard, whilst retaining many original features and its former glory.

The home provides a diverse and varied activities timetable on a day-to-day basis with a dedicated Activities Coordinator on site at the home. As with all aspects at the home, residents’ likes, dislikes and opinions are taken into consideration when planning events and activities.
