Grace is given ‘No 1 Helper Award’

Resident Grace Drummond, who lives in the Duchray Unit at Marchglen Care Home, was recognised for her achievements this week after going the extra mile to help out.

Grace likes to help out with tasks around the home so staff nurse Janet Fullerton set up a programme of activities for Grace to enhance her quality of wellbeing.

As part of the programme Grace feeds the fish each morning, sets out and clears the dining tables at meal times and helps with the laundry.

Marchglen manager Tanya Taylor-Smith, who recently presented Grace with a ‘No 1 Helper’ badge for all of her efforts, said:

‘It’s important that our residents have individual care plans tailored to their own needs. We recognised that Grace wanted to help out around the home so we put some gentle activities in place for her. When we presented Grace with her badge she was overwhelmed.’

Marchglen Care Home is an innovative collection of four houses providing a range of specialist care and forming a unique community on the outskirts of Fishcross. The state of the art facility supports up to 36 people including those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and acquired brain injuries.
