Glittering fireworks at Gildawood

Several residents from Gildawood Court care home in Nuneaton joined activities coordinator Vanessa and Becky from daycare in the daycare lounge for a sparkly activity this week.

The residents all took part in painting firework displays using black cardboard, paint and LOTS of glitter, which is Vanessa’s favourite bit!

Vanessa showed the residents an example of what to do and told them to use as many colours and as much glitter as possible to make their picture stand out. Some residents made more than one picture as they enjoyed themselves so much, once they were dry the beautiful, colourful pictures were put in pride of place on the wall to make a collage.

Activities like this help our residents with the mood and attention and provides lots of opportunity to mix together and talk. They really think about what they are doing and are proud of what they produce, especially when it is put up for everyone to see.

At Gildawood Court, we offer a full range of dementia care support including trial stays, short stay and convalescent care as well as long-term care.
