The Glam Sparrows visit Mill House

Mill House were lucky to have a new singing duo called Glam Sparrow visit the home to entertain our residents. Glam Sparrows are a man and wife duo who play the acoustic guitar and sing songs from the 50’s, 60’s and 70s.

The residents took part by singing along and playing maracas to the beat, clapping their hands and tapping their feet. A couple of the residents that are more mobile got up and danced with a little help from the Health Care Assistants and Activities Assistant.

We were joined half way through by one of our residents that was celebrating her 95th Birthday to which everyone sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to her and all joined in with having some birthday cake and a cup of tea.

Speaking to the residents after the event many said it brought back many happy memories of their Saturday nights when they and their partners would go to the local dance, and dance to many of the songs that were being sung. I asked the residents their views of the afternoon they all said they enjoyed it very much and would like to see them again.
