Garth House has a fun-filled October

We celebrated two events in style this month at Garth House – Oktoberfest and Halloween.

Oktoberfest beer and folk festival originated in Munich and has now been imitated worldwide. Garth House’s version included musical entertainment from Charlie on the guitar, a lovely German-style buffet prepared by our chef, Peter, plus a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in the afternoon!

The room was themed with Alice in Wonderland characters including the Cheshire Cat and giant playing card decorations. Festivities didn’t end there – a fun quiz with rounds on music, nature, food, geography and history was followed by a singalong to popular party-pub songs.

Our Halloween party, shared with family and friends as well as residents and care team members, incorporated ghostly decorations. The lounge was a grisly scene of scary skeletons, spooky spiders and pumpkins with gruesome faces. A visiting magician had everyone gasping with mind-boggling tricks and sleight of hand. Next, a wicked witch appeared and quizzed everyone with Halloween questions, all in the ‘spirit’ of the occasion.
