Game, Set and Match at Mill House during Wimbledon

Wimbledon was the topic and activity of choice for residents at Mill House in Chipping Campden this week.

With all the excitement of this annual event, and to follow the Wimbledon matches, residents at Mill House had a chance to play badminton.

As a tennis racket could prove too heavy for some of our residents, we thought badminton would be a perfect activity and to keep in with the theme. The weather was beautiful on 5th of July, warm and sunny so our Activity Coordinator set up a net ready for an afternoon of play.

Also on that day one of our residents Bea celebrated her birthday. She was very lucky as her family came around with flowers and presents. Jon, our Chef baked a special birthday cake for Bea to mark this special occasion.

The afternoon was a real success. Our residents could play badminton even in their wheelchairs or ordinary chairs and everyone had such great fun.

Jon also prepared a fresh fruit punch, very refreshing for a sunny day and strawberries and cream in keeping with the Wimbledon theme.

There was a lovely atmosphere; residents talked, laughed and enjoyed the lovely weather. Finally Jon and Rob – our two Chefs, after all their hard work to make the day special for everyone, played a match with each other. That was very exciting to see members of our team having some well deserved rest and relaxation and most of all fun with our residents!
