Fluffy friends visit Garth House

Residents at Garth House nursing home in Dorking enjoyed a visit from Ollie, a friendly pooch this week.

Joan and Patricia particularly enjoyed his visit, as he visited their rooms for cuddles.

Pets bring an overwhelming sense of happiness and calming and this is something we would like our residents to feel. Animals visiting our home can help bring our residents together and provides the opportunity for them to hold and stroke their soft fur. This enables relaxation, which can help residents open up, be more alert and even encourage them to talk more freely to other people.

Ollie provides unconditional love which can be a huge help in combatting loneliness, especially for those unable to come to the lounge for. Animals can make you smile, they listen to you, and provide comfort when you feel down.

We look forward to seeing him again soon.
