Feely Muffs Thank You to Gildawood Court

Crafty duo June Donaldson and Gail Steptoe-Warrew are busy knitting 60 ‘feely muffs’ for our residents at Gildawood Court. The soft accessories are being created as a thank you to the home for the care of Gail’s great aunt who was a resident here.

The two ladies, both from Nuneaton, have been visiting the home regularly to make the brightly-coloured muffs which feature buttons and beads on the outside and inside.

Gail said:

“I wanted to do something for the home that cared for my great aunt. These muffs are good for residents who can’t do activities as they can put them on and fiddle with the beads and buttons, which helps to maintain their dexterity.”

Jo Madejowska, Home Manager said:

“Feely muffs are a very good sensory tool, providing stimulation for residents who are otherwise unable to keep active. People living with dementia particularly like to use them to keep their hands busy. This is a lovely gesture from June and Gail – making 60 of these muffs is no mean feat, and all the residents love them.”
