Rendlesham Care Centre has been enjoying some equine excitement with afternoon at the races and some new four-legged friends.
First, it welcomed two new delightful donkeys – Muffin and Oliver Twist. Five Rendlesham residents went on a day trip to Redwings Horse Sanctuary in Norfolk where they were introduced to their two new furry friends. Despite it being a rainy day, spirits were not dampened and residents and staff were even able to enjoy a picnic at Beccles.
Everyone was so inspired by Muffin and Oliver Twist, that they decided to mark the occasion with a fun-filled “day at the races”. The themed afternoon, which took place at the home itself, involved a delicious afternoon tea and a chance to take a gamble on the races. To make sure there were no big losses, staff and residents played with fake money. Although one resident Mary, who won an amazing £4,000 did think it was a pity it wasn’t real.
Rendlesham Care Centre is nestled next to Rendlesham Forest, and is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group. Mother and son team Helena and Paul Jeffery established the Group in 1994 and it has grown to be one of the leading care providers in the UK. Rendlesham provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care near Woodbridge in Suffolk, and is committed to providing a variety of activities for its residents.
Rendlesham Manager, Angie Ryan, said:
“We’re very excited to be adopting Muffin and Oliver Twist, and we’re all looking forward to getting to know our long faced friends! The afternoon at the races was a great opportunity to celebrate our new pals – and for us all to have a bit of a flutter.
“At Rendlesham we’re passionate about ensuring that residents can enjoy their hobbies and interests, as well as trying new and exciting things.”
