Enjoyable Platinum Jubilee Party at Deer Park View
Residents and staff at Deer Park View Care Home celebrated the Platinum Jubilee by holding a party. The home was decorated for the occasion by our Senior Wellbeing Co-ordinator Krys. We displayed the traditional red, white and blue colours with Union Jack flags in honour of Her Majesty.
Over the weekend we celebrated with entertainers Sarah and Nick visiting the home and singing an assortment of songs, encouraging our residents and staff to get involved with a singalong and dancing. Residents were adorning handmade head dresses for the occasion.
,Everyone at Deer Park View enjoyed a selection of cakes and savoury snacks, prepared by our chef Michael as well as alcoholic drinks for those that fancied a little tipple. 1940’s and 1950’s music was played in the background, with residents thoroughly enjoying being taken back in time.
Earlier this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. This marked her 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
We all had a lovely time, enjoying the entertainment and the party was a real triumph. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us and supported us to make it such a wonderful event and some wonderful memories.

Plant a tree for the Jubilee

Trees are being planted across the UK to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and at Deer Park View Care Home we have got involved and are proud to be supporting the Queen's Green Canopy Project.
This is a unique tree planting initiative and as we had everyone together to celebrate this special occasion we took the opportunity to plant our Plum tree in the home's grounds, which was marked with an official royal commemorative plaque.
Home Manager Debi Miller said, “Everyone at the home enjoyed the opportunity to mark such a wonderful occasion and get involved in the initiative."
Treasured Memories at Deer Park View

Since the beginning of the year the residents and team have been collecting items to put into a time capsule at the home as part of the Caring Homes Treasured Memories campaign, where our homes have been placing time capsules within their grounds.
It was a chance for everyone to put something in for future generations to find, the items included stories, recent news, badges as well as a facemask and Covid Test
Once everything was put in the capsule it was then secured to the wall of the home with a plaque to mark the occasion for it to be opened and the memories to be seen by future residents and staff at the home.
