“End of the Track” singers delight residents of Ferfoot

Residents at Ferfoot in Chippenham are pleased to receive regular visits from local band “End of the Track”, a male singing group who entertain residents throughout the year. “End of the Track” provides timeless ambience, singing classic hits from the 60’s, plus pop, folk and spiritual songs. Their presence is particularly popular with residents at Ferfoot, who happily join in.

Music plays a big part of life at Ferfoot and the band are able to build fantastic relationships with residents to ensure they feel comfortable to join in whenever they want to. If residents can, they are up and dancing along to songs, sometimes together, sometimes with staff, sometimes by themselves.

Home manager Nicki Stone said “It’s fantastic that “End of the Track” visit us so regularly and one of the residents here used to be a member. Music is very important to us at the home as residents are able to remember and talk about different times in their lives. Often residents find it easy to remember old songs and music as these reach a part of the brain in ways other forms of communication cannot.

At Ferfoot, the mental wellbeing and stimulation of our residents is of the utmost importance to us and we have found that music is a particularly good way to engage all our residents. “End of the Track” ensures their performances are inclusive to all. Everyone has memories associated to certain songs and we help our residents unlock these memories by playing music and having a sing along together.”

Based in North Wiltshire, “End of the Track” perform songs from the 1960s era to raise funds for local charities. They charge no standard fee, and simply ask for a donation to their chosen charity for any performance. The group has been singing together for over six years, with a wide repertoire of songs.
