Emma crowned ‘Bake Off Queen’ at Walstead Place Tea Party

Walstead Place was a hive of activity this week as the local community was invited to a vintage tea party in celebration of National Care Home Open Day.
The Scaynes Hill Road home, part of the Caring Homes group, used the event as an opportunity to get to know the local community further through hosting the fun-filled event.
With the sun shining, the ‘good old fashioned tea party’ was set up in the garden and played host to a very special guest in the shape of Delilah the Shetland Pony. She was very well behaved as she also took a tour of the home to visit a number of residents in their own rooms.
There was also a hotly contested bake off with many fantastic cakes on display. The home’s own chef Emma was crowned the winner and was presented with her prize by Eileen Schofield, the wife of one of the local lay preachers that visit Walstead Place each week.
Located in the quiet hamlet of Walstead, just a mile from Lindfield, Walstead Place is a 19th century country squire’s residence, sensitively converted to provide residential care and nursing care for up to 41 elderly ladies and gentlemen. The home is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery.
