Easter Celebrations and Cupcakes at Mill House

At Mill House, staff and residents all enjoyed celebrating the Easter weekend. We started off the preparations on Good Friday, where we gathered together in the Activity Room to bake Easter cupcakes. Jon our chef prepared all the ingredients for our residents to start mixing and they all got involved whether it was whisking, filling the cases and decorating.

One of our residents, Kath used to work in a confectionary shop in a small village called Summer Seat near Bury in Lancashire, so she became our resident expert on the day.

She was a real professional and enjoyed the memories this activity brought back. The way she mixed ingredients and decorated the cupcakes with buttercream and vanilla icing proved her experience.

Everyone had a chance to participate. David was in charge of cracking the eggs, Eve was supervising and Mary couldn’t wait for another pot of icing sugar to taste!

Their beautifully decorated cupcakes were then served to everyone with tea and coffee on Easter Sunday and they tasted absolutely marvellous.

Dominika Soboczynska, Activities Coordinator said

β€œIt was a great activity and great to have our residents all display their skills and have fun at the same time. Lots of discussions were had about what decorations to use and even those who did not have much baking experience, got in the spirit.”
