Easter Bonnets and Parade at Mill House

Residents and the team at Mill House care home in Chipping Campden, enjoyed a fantastic Easter this year when we started off the Easter celebrations on Good Friday with lot of events and activities planned.

First thing in the morning, our residents were invited to attend an Easter Bonnets Parade wearing their designs and creations they had made earlier on in an Arts and Crafts activity session.

Carol from ‘Creative Minds’ assisted with this session and provided a lot of Easter bits and bobs to theme and decorate the straw hats. Our residents really enjoyed choosing what they wanted to decorate and embellish with and there was lots of animated conversation.

Dominika, our Activity Coordinator bought the hats from The Works, her favourite craft shop. Our residents all got in the spirit and really enjoyed parading their creations in front of each other and their guests. Lots of lovely pictures were taken and we all agreed our parade was very successful.

Our residents had help from their visitors when their families and friends came and joined us for Easter. Jean’s daughter helped her with her bonnet. June’s daughter came all the way from London and helped her mum make her bonnet and Leslie’s daughter made sure his bonnet was very fancy and colourful.

During lunchtime, Wendy our volunteer turned up with hot cross buns that were part of the local Baptist church volunteers who donated them to the local community. Handmade, and beautifully presented from Chipping Campden’s local shop and last, but not least, really delicious.

Finally at 3pm, our residents had a lot of fun hunting for Easter Eggs we hidden around the building for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. We had a selection of eggs but Cadbury Crème Eggs appeared to be favourites. Hazel was very excited every time she found an egg, and when we finally ended the hunt, we realised she had collected most of them! Lucky Hazel.

We all agreed that we had a lovely day full of fun, laughter and excitement.

At Mill House care home in Chipping Campden we deliver residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 45 elderly residents in a friendly and supportive environment.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely

Paul Jeffery – Chief Executive Officer

Frank Cummins – Clinical Director
