East Hill House named as Best Dementia Care Home

Caring Homes Group are extremely proud that East Hill House has been awarded ‘Best Dementia Care Home’ at the National Dementia Care Awards 2017.

East Hill House in Liss, Hampshire is managed by Samantha Booty, who leads an exceptional team providing residential and dementia care for up to 32 residents.

Residents have an active role in the day to day running of the home where the aim is to ensure a real home from home environment.
The home ensures residents are fully involved – from monthly meetings with the Manager, meeting with the Activities Coordinator to choose what activities and events are planned and discussing what is working – to giving the Gardener his weekly tasks that they consider to be the most important.

Inclusivity is a cornerstone of East Hill’s ethos. The team are passionate about spreading this ethos to the wider community by joining up with the people of Liss to make it more dementia friendly. Colleagues run monthly training sessions, which aim to increase the community’s understanding of dementia, and help them make the small changes to support dementia sufferers they come into contact with. Trainees include all colleagues at East Hill, relatives of residents, and residents of Liss. Training has even been delivered to the whole team at a local supermarket.

The team of this long established care home, is committed to providing continuity and stability for residents and is proud of the fact it has not used agency staff for the last eight years. This has made a huge contribution to the well-being of members of the East Hill community, with residents and their family members forming close and lasting bonds with the care team. At the most recent inspection, East Hill met all of the CQC’s standards with a Good overall rating.

Winners of the National Dementia Care Awards 2017 were announced at a Gala Night at Doncaster Racecourse on November 9th following the UK Dementia Congress. The event was hosted by John Middleton who won a multitude of praise for his portrayal of a person living with dementia in ITV’s Emmerdale.

Care Home Manager Samantha Booty said; “I’m struggling to find the words to describe how proud I am winning this amazing prestigious award and how to thank my team for their continued hard work and passion – without them it just wouldn’t of been possible!

“I am so proud to have a dedicated, hard-working, integrated team that utilises a broad range of skills and experience to deliver great care and provide a first class home. This is a huge lifetime achievement for us all at East Hill House.”

East Hill House is equipped to provide residential support for elderly people living with different types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely

Paul Jeffery – Chief Executive Officer

Frank Cummins – Clinical Director
