Dormy House sponsor Charters School

Managed by Joanne Gullon, Dormy House in Sunningdale provides quality 24-hour residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as respite, convalescent and end of life care, for up to 88 older residents.

Dormy House has worked with Charters School over the last year to form links community giving encouragement and supporting them. Diane Heyes Customer Relations Advisor for Dormy House is keen to build the intergenerational links in the community and is scoping how community projects might involve resident, relatives and colleagues at the home in the future. As a result of this Dormy House has sponsored the rugby team at Charters School.

Creating better links with organisations and services in the local area provides many benefits for a care home. Aging should not be perceived as, just about decline, as it is also about seizing opportunities and managing the transition and loss of the life once lived. Central to a good life in old age is the value attached to inter-dependence; being a part of a connected community where people care about and look out for each other, mixed with a determination not to be a burden, especially on close family, so at Dormy House we encourage an emphasis on mutual help and reciprocal relationships. Dormy House located in the heart of the community offers the potential to connect the values and preferences of older people within a network of community groups to support a good old age and provide a significant bridge between communities and statutory bodies.

Rated Good the Care Quality Commission and 9.6 by independent reviews, Dormy House has comfortable lounges and shared spaces that are perfect for relaxing, catching up with visitors or enjoying activities. As well as a hair salon there is a conservatory where guests can help themselves to freshly brewed tea or coffee and homemade cakes. The beautiful gardens are ideal for a stroll or sitting and watching the wildlife.

Anyone or any community group who is keen to become involved should contact Diane Heyes via Dormy House on: 0808 223 5362

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
