Deputy Lord Mayor has afternoon tea at the Oaken Holt Estate

The Deputy Lord Mayor of Oxford Cllr Christine Simm joined residents, relatives and carers at Oaken Holt Estate for an afternoon tea and open day this week to celebrate the fantastic refurbishment which has taken place at the stunning Oxfordshire care home.

The home, run by Caring Homes, is part of the Oaken Holt Estate, a stunning Victorian house set within 23 acres of beautiful gardens and parklands in the heart of rural Oxfordshire offering residential and nursing care of the very highest standard.

During the recent refurbishment services, furnishings and equipment have been combined to ensure a luxurious standard of resident comfort and care. Communal rooms and bedrooms have been refurbished.

Cllr Simm cut a ceremonial ribbon to officially launch the new rooms at Oaken Holt and had a tour of the home, meeting residents and colleagues. She enjoyed afternoon tea on the patio where there was a harpist playing.

Home manager Sherrie Hume said; “We were delighted to welcome the new Deputy Lord Mayor of Oxford to the Oaken Holt estate this week as we are extremely proud of the home we have here.

“The refurbishment has taken over a year and, of course, there has been some upheaval for residents and colleagues but it has all been carefully managed and the finished results are fantastic. Our afternoon tea was a great event and the gorgeous weather allowed us to enjoy the new patio which has extensive views across the estate.”

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
