Dance Hall revival at Heffle Court

The 1940’s were revived for just one day recently, as Heffle Court in Heathfield welcomed the local community for their ‘Traditional Tea Dance.’

Many residents had talked fondly of time spent in dance halls, particularly during wartime when the lights, music and company allowed people to forget the misery of the war for a few short hours.

Keen to further evoke these memories, Heffle Court staff set about turning the home’s lounge into a traditional Dance Hall, complete with traditional decorations to get everyone in the mood.

Residents were joined by relatives, friends and the local community, all dressed up in their finest outfits. Professional ex-music hall musicians brought the event to life with music from the 1940’s and 50’s and the dance floor soon filled up as the music began.

The lively afternoon was finished off with a buffet provided by the Heffle Court chefs and some fantastic cupcakes created and donated by the partner of kitchen assistant Sam Armstrong.

Located in the East Sussex market town of Heathfield, Heffle Court is a purpose-built care home providing specialist care for 32 elderly residents living with a form of dementia.

The home offers a range of care provision from residential to nursing care depending upon the needs of the individual. Heffle Court has an excellent reputation amongst residents, families and care professionals for the quality of care provided. The home focuses on therapeutic activities based on residents’ life experience and even has a smallholding, Willow Farm and teashop.
