Craigbank Primary visits Marchglen

The pupils from Craigbank Primary visited Marchglen Care Centre in Clackmannanshire this week.

The residents are joined by the Primary School every Christmas as part of our local community engagement initiatives, the children come in to entertain the residents and care team with Christmas carols and songs. The residents also like to sing along with the children, joining in with songs such as ‘Away in a manger’, ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’ and ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’.

After the singing, everyone took a breather as the children circulated with the residents for a chat, juice and sweets. The children really are very good with the residents and we cannot tank the school enough for their involvement with Marchglen.

Joanne told them they were “Brilliant” and “It has made me smile today.” Maintaining strong links with the local community is extremely important for the residents at Marchglen, as it builds spirits, confidence, and helps them feel included.

The children will be returning on Burns Day to do some poem readings, the residents are really looking forward to it!

Marchglen provides nursing care in a purpose built environment for up to 36 people in four small homes within the grounds. Each home provides different types of care and support including physical disabilities, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours in both young adults and elderly.
