Coxhill take a ride on the wild side

The residents at Coxhill Manor Nursing Home in Woking enjoyed a Harley Davidson afternoon.

Steve and Sue, the daughter and son in law of resident Marcia kindly arranged for some of their ‘Harley’ friends to visit Coxhill and treat us all to the sights and sounds of the iconic Harley Davidson Motorbikes.

The sun was shining and we had a bbq at the front of the house, red, white and blue bunting, American music playing and of course Budweiser beers on ice to set the scene for the arrival of the Bikes.

And what a spectacular arrival it was… the guys drove their Harley’s around the circular driveway for all to see and enjoy and of course hear the unmistakable sound of the Harley Davidson engine!  All senses engaged!

The guys parked their bikes for us all to see. Residents, families and staff alike enjoyed the amazing display. We were all impressed by the immaculate and pristine condition of the bikes –as they glistened in the sunshine.

A number of residents were particularly interested in getting up close and hearing from the bikers – there was no shortage of questions, as we learnt about the history of the Harley Davidson bike to personal stories form the guys about their much loved bikes!

Resident Anne thoroughly enjoyed it and said even though she had never been on a motorbike she was fascinated by them and loved hearing form the bikers.  She was enthralled!

Nurse Ephi’s daughter Zoe is a big Harley fan and couldn’t resist sitting on one…better get saving up Ephi!  And Johns wife Hannah certainly looked the part too  – and we learnt that John had a moped – but never quite got the Harley Davidson bug!

To compliment the Harley Davidsons Steve had also bought his ‘Willy’s Jeep’ and arranged for an Oldsmobile to visit too – which resident Philip particularly enjoyed getting in – he was mechanic by trade and was thrilled to be in the car- he even started it up!

It’s great to make use of the stunning frontage of Coxhill Manor and get everyone together for a good fun afternoon.

Huge thanks to Steve and Sue for organising the bikes and cars and introducing us to the delights of his special recipe garlic bread cooked on the BBQ!!
