Coxhill Manor enjoy Lightbox Art in Mind Workshop

Coxhill Manor in Woking residents John and Joy attended April’s Art in Mind Workshop at The Lightbox Gallery in Woking, accompanied by Sarah from Activities and Joy’s daughter Pippa.

Joy didn’t know her daughter was coming so it was a wonderful surprise for her to see her.

We received our usual warm welcome from Learning and Engagement Officer Di who was running the workshop and we all enjoyed coffee and biscuits before getting down to business.

The focus of the session was a painting by Scottish artist John Bellany called ‘Summer Flowers’.  After much discussion about the painting and the artist we began our own interpretation of ‘Summer Flowers’.  The media used was oil paints.

The talent in the room is pretty remarkable with everyone creating a completely unique and different interpretation.  Joy and John really enjoy the workshop; not only the art itself but the familiarity of the group and the discussions.  It was extra special for Joy this time with her daughter surprising her… and needless to say, it was lovely for Pippa to spend quality time painting with her mum!

Even though the workshop is two hours long, the only downside is that it goes too quickly but we’ll be back.

At Coxhill Manor care home in Woking we provide residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 58 residents.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
